Hey everybody, it's that special time again. I've gotten tagged by this a couple times before, but it's always a fun one.
So here's how it works (for those of you who haven't done it umpty-bazillion times already): If you want me to interview you, comment on this thingy, and I'll respond with some questions. You then post the answers to these questions in your journal, and the cycle begins anew. Also, if you feel like asking me questions of your own, have at it.
(waves at new spr0t people)
1. If you had a choice of learning ONE new instrument, what would it be and why?
Mandolin. I'm actually going to pick one up in the next few weeks. I've wanted to learn mandolin for a while, in large part because there's this bluegrass night I sometimes go to and I've been inspired by some of the awesome mandolin players I've seen. Also, mandolins are tuned to the same notes as a bass guitar (except in reverse), so for some reason I think that'll make it easier.
2. What is your favourite Lebowski quote?
Dude, that's like asking me to pick between my kids (if I had kids. which I don't)! Umm... probably "My girlfriend lost her toe, it's not fair!" I say that all the time, usually at inappropriate moments.
3. How did you pick your El-Jay handle?
It's actually a handle I've carried with me through many email addresses and various other online thingies. I guess it started in high school, where I earned the nickname "Satan" due to my inappropriate sense of humor and delight in the misfortune of others. I also took German for 5 years in junior high / high school, and at some point I added Herr (German for Mister) to make Satan a little more classy.
4. Have you recovered from your trip as of yet? Do you still think of the deer?
Sometimes. It's funny, by the end of the trip I was totally desensitized to the wonder of deer. Instead I just prayed that we wouldn't hit any of them. There were a lot of deer there - to the point where they may have to consider population control measures or they'll start starving. But yeah, we saw probably a couple dozen deer a day, most often waiting by the side of the road to run into cars, or frolicking in the road just ahead.
5. Joel or Mike? Dr. Forrester or TV's Frank? Crow T. Robot or Tom Servo?
Joel, Dr. Forrester and Crow. No question!
That reminds me, I need to download some of those MST3K-style commentaries from Mike at RiffTrax...

I always loved Joel. He just seemed so put-upon by the world, but in a way that's endearing.
I don't know what I would have done without MST3K when I was a kid and was unable to sleep at night - so many times I was afraid I'd wake up my parents laughing at 3 in the morning. Good times!
