[profile] shrubtree and I watched the RiffTrax version of Star Trek 5 last night. First of all... holy sweet mother of butt, I forgot how terrible Star Trek 5 is. Jesus! That was some seriously low-budget weird campy shit. Secondly, Rifftrax = win, as long as you can get it all synced up right. Next up, Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze!

I never even saw the whole ST5 movie -- it was the only one I watched so far that I couldn't get past the first half hour or so. ;) I think I made it as far as Uhura's "diversion," where the guys are all gawking over her supposed nudity while she was singing. XD Normally, I love Nichelle Nichols' singing, but this scene (and others preceding it) was just too much. XD And don't get me started on how awful Bill Shatner's "hair" looked. ;)

On the other hand, I absolutely loved the episode "Spock's Brain" for its sheer camp value, though apparently a lot of people hated it. Go figure. XD

Yeah, the Uhura thing was just wrong. I wonder who thought that was a good idea...

There are a lot of really campy Star Trek episodes and movies that I like - I think my favorite old ST episode is when Kirk is trapped on some planet and forced to fight some lizard man, and he somehow manages to make gunpowder and some sort of ghetto mortar / gun thing. That was classic.

I forget which one Spock's Brain was... did aliens steal Spock's brain or something?

(that userpic continues to be my favorite thing ever, btw)

They stole Spock's brain, yes, and he spent the whole episode wandering around with McCoy operating him like a remote-control zombie.
